Alprazolam in Lam-Plus/Lam-Plus H is a short-acting anxiolytic of the benzodiazepine class of psychoactive drugs. Alprazolam, like other benzodiazepines, binds to specific sites on the GABAA receptor. Alprazolam is commonly used and FDA approved for the medical treatment of panic disorder, and anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) or social anxiety disorder
Propranolol in Lam-Plus/Lam-Plus H is a nonselective beta blocker; that is, it blocks the action of epinephrine and norepinephrine on both β1- and β2-adrenergic receptors. It has little intrinsic sympathomimetic activity, but has strong membrane stabilizing activity (only at high blood concentrations, e.g. overdosage). Propranolol has inhibitory effects on thenorepinephrine transporter and/or stimulates norepinephrine release (the concentration of norepinephrine is increased in the synapse).
