(LEVETIRACETAM 250/500/750 MG TABLET) (LEVETIRACETAM 1GM SR TABLET)
Grand mal epilepsy
Partial epilepsy
Seizures in brain tumor patients
How it works
The exact mechanism by which levetiracetam in LEVETAS acts to treat epilepsy is unknown. However, the drug binds to a synaptic vesicle glycoprotein, SV2A, and inhibits presynaptic calcium channels reducing neurotransmitter release and acting as a neuromodulator. This is believed to impede impulse conduction across synapses.
