CIPAM-S- Escitalopram 5/10/20 mg Tablet

Depression Co-morbid with Anxiety
How it works
Escitalopram in CIPAM-S/CIPAM PLUS is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class. It is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) for the treatment of adults and children over 12 years of age with major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Escitalopram selectively inhibits CNS neuronal re-uptake of serotonin (5-HT) and potentiates serotonergic activity. It has minimal effects on norepinephrine and dopamine neuronal re-uptake.
Etizolam molecule in CIPAM-S/CIPAM PLUS differs from a benzodiazepine in that the benzene ring has been replaced by a thiophene ring, making the drug a thienodiazepine. It possesses, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, amnesic, hypnotic, sedative and skeletal muscle relaxant properties. The binding of etizolam to the GABA-A receptor increases the affinity of gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) and its receptor, thereby increasing the opening frequency of GABA-A receptor. As a consequence of this, benzodiazepines potentiate GABA-ergic neurotransmission, resulting in anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant, sedative and hypnotic effects.
