How it works
ETIZOLAM in ETIPRO molecule differs from a benzodiazepine in that the benzene ring has been replaced by a thiophene ring, making the drug a thienodiazepine. It possesses amnesic, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, hypnotic, sedative and skeletal muscle relaxant properties. It acts by binding to the GABA (Gamma amino butyric acid) receptors. The binding of benzodiazepines to the GABA-A receptor increases the affinity of gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) and its receptor, thereby increasing the opening frequency of GABA-A receptor. As a consequence of this, benzodiazepines potentiate GABA-ergic neurotransmission, resulting in anxiolytic (anti-anxiety), anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant, sedative and hypnotic effects.
PROPRANOLOL in ETIPRO is a nonselective beta blocker; that is, it blocks the action of epinephrine and norepinephrine on both β1- and β2-adrenergic receptors. It has little intrinsic sympathomimetic activity, but has strong membrane stabilizing activity (only at high blood concentrations, e.g. overdosage). Propranolol has inhibitory effects on thenorepinephrine transporter and/or stimulates norepinephrine release (the concentration of norepinephrine is increased in the synapse).
