Indications

• Hyperuricemia
• Chronic Gout

How it works

FURITAS containing Febuxostat is used to lower uric acid levels in people with gout. It works by reducing the amount of uric acid made by the body. It is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. An increased uric acid level can cause gout. It is a medication used long-term to treat gout due to high uric acid levels. It is generally recommended only for people who cannot take allopurinol. When initially started, medications such as NSAIDs are often recommended to prevent gout flares.

Side Effects

Diarrhea, Headache, Nausea, Edema (swelling), Abnormal liver function, Rash, Joint pain, Gout flares

Contraindication

It is contraindicated in :
• chronic heart failure.
• a disorder of the blood vessels of the brain.
• hardening of the arteries due to plaque build up.
• abnormal liver function tests.
• increased cardiovascular event risk.
• chronic kidney disease stage 4 (severe)
