The role of brivaracetam is discussed in issue 3 of the Neuro Nutshell Series. The first section of this issue deals with an analysis to determine the efficacy of Brivaracetam as an early add-on agent in refractory focal onset seizures and its usage in various clinical situations associated with seizures.
The next section includes a conference on the 34th International Epilepsy Congress organized between August 28th and September 1st, 2021. The author inferred that brivaracetam is a good alternative to levetiracetam for patients suffering from irritability and impulsiveness. In addition, a device has been developed to quickly calm the nerves in as little as ten minutes in the technology section.
Finally, the last part of the issue covers a prospective audit on the effects of anti-seizure medication in an everyday clinical setting, which revealed that brivaracetam is effective in a wide range of doses for a variety of seizure types and syndromes.
