Several sections have been included in issue 2 of the Gastro Nutshell series. The first section of this issue included a clinical update on the efficacy of midodrine in patients with orthostatic hypotension and COVID-19-related dysautonomia. In the following section, we discussed about the INTERNATIONAL LIVER CONGRESS 2021, which held on June 23rd-26th, 2021. Shaheen AA et al demonstrated that COVID-19 monthly admission rates were stable for non-alcoholic and alcoholic cirrhosis. The other section of the technology update highlighted the role of artificial intelligence systems in early gastric cancer detection and also demonstrated that the Endoangel system is potentially successful in real-time monitoring of endoscopic blind spots, timing, and EGC detection during esophagogastroduodenoscopy.
This issue is ended with a global update section that discusses how midodrine improves hemodynamics, diuretic tolerability, and ascites control in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure.
