Prophylaxis of migraine. It is effective in reducing the frequency of migraine attacks and to a lesser extent, the severity.
How it works
Preventek contains Flunarizine, which is a Calcium Channel Blocker & Histamine H1 Antagonist Flunarizine is a selective calcium entry blocker with histamine H1 blocking activity. Flunarizine inhibits the influx of extracellular calcium through myocardial and vascular membrane pores by physically plugging the channel. Thus effectively controls / prevent the migraine & symptoms of vestibular vertigo attacks.
Indications
Prophylaxis of migraine. It is effective in reducing the frequency of migraine attacks and to a lesser extent, the severity.
Dosage
Prophylaxis of migraine, Prophylaxis of vertigo and vestibular disorders, Prophylaxis of peripheral and cerebrovascular disorders Adult :- 5-10 mg daily at bedtime. Can be taken with or without food.
Side Effects
Drowsiness. Rarely wt gain, headache, depression, gastric pain, dry mouth, insomnia, extrapyramidal reactions, galactorrhoea.
Contraindication
Pregnancy, lactation, GI or urinary tract obstruction, acute porphyrias. Preventek is contraindicated in Pregnancy & Lactation
