Cleansing of the colon in preparation for colonoscopy in adults and pediatric patients aged 2 years or greater. For the treatment of chronic constipation. Laxitas-PG is also effective in resolving faecal impaction, defined as refractory constipation with faecal loading of the rectum and/or colon.
How it works
Polyethylene Glycol : Polyethylene glycol belongs to the class of osmotic laxative. It treats occasional constipation by increasing the bowel movements and retaining the water in the stool thus making the stool softer which helps in easy passage from intestine. Sodium Chloride : It is used to maintain the electrolyte balance of our body by providing salt and water in the form of solution. It is commonly called 'table salt'. Sodium Bicarbonate : Sodium bicarbonate is an antacid . It works by neutralizing excess acid in the blood and is used for heartburn and indigestion associated with hyperacidity. Sodium bicarbonate also normalizes excess acid in the body fluids. Potassium Chloride : When blood potassium levels are low, the brain cannot relay signals as effectively. Thus, contractions in the digestive system may become weaker and slow the movement of food. This may cause digestive problems like bloating and constipation. Potassium Chloride is used for preventing or treating low potassium levels in blood. Potassium levels in blood can go down due to certain medications, long spell of diarrhoea, vomiting or taking diuretic pills. Potassium is responsible for maintaining proper functioning of kidney, heart, muscles and nerves. Potassium is an important mineral which is required for normal functioning of our body and is found in many types of foods. Decrease in potassium level due to low dietary intakes or due to certain diseases may cause several diseases. Potassium levels can be low during prolonged diarrhea or vomiting.
